Equans to deliver energy efficiency upgrades to homes across Nottinghamshire
Equans has been appointed by Newark and Sherwood District Council to deliver a major programme of energy efficiency upgrades to more than 80 social-rented homes across the district.
The two-year programme, which is due to run from summer 2026 to spring 2028, will see Equans install a range of low-carbon and energy efficiency measures designed to help create warmer, more comfortable homes for residents, while supporting the council’s wider housing and sustainability ambitions.
Homes will benefit from measures including air source heat pumps, solar panels with battery storage, and cavity wall and loft insulation upgrades where required.
Equans will also install improved ventilation systems, with extractor fans fitted in kitchens and bathrooms to support better air circulation and help reduce the risk of damp.
The upgrades are expected to improve the Energy Performance Certificate ratings of eligible homes from D or E to at least C, helping residents to benefit from lower energy bills of up to £1,400 a year, warmer homes and improved living conditions.
Privately owned homes within the Newark and Sherwood District may also have the opportunity to benefit from improvements, subject to eligibility, through the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme.
Louise Reynolds, Regional Director at Equans UK & Ireland, said:
“Everyone deserves to live in a warm, comfortable and affordable home and these improvements will help make that a reality. Residents can look forward to cheaper heating costs at a time when many household bills are on the rise.
“Carrying out energy efficiency improvements like these are also essential to help reduce carbon emissions of existing homes so that communities can lead healthier, greener lifestyles.”
Councillor Lee Brazier, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said:
“These upgrades will mean warmer homes, lower bills and better living conditions for dozens of families in Newark and Sherwood, and that’s something we’re proud to deliver.
“Working with Equans is helping us make meaningful, long-term improvements to our housing. This investment not only supports our work to cut carbon emissions, but also our strategy to provide sustainable, high-quality housing across Newark and Sherwood.”
