How Equans is transforming the built environment
Transforming window cleaning with state-of-the-art drone technology
Cleaning external windows traditionally involves significant height risks, extensive time, and high costs due to manned rigs. We are revolutionising this process by utilising an innovative drone system to deliver 70 degrees C pressurised pure water directly to the cleaning area. Our advanced approach ensures a safer, more efficient, and cost-effective solution for external window and façade cleaning.
Enhancing building management with Equans’ Retro BIM solution
Explore how we are transforming building management with our integrated Retro BIM solution. By feeding inspection data into a 3D model we’ve created from collected building information, we support all subsequent operations and maintenance while monitoring and managing the thermal envelope of a building to reduce its overall carbon emissions. Our innovative digital solution offers numerous benefits, from helping businesses return buildings to landlords efficiently to enabling the PFI market to conduct annual surveys instead of every five years, maximising efficiency and saving costs.
Revolutionising inspection & lifecycle management with AI-powered defect capture
Our AI-powered defect capture solution transforms infrastructure maintenance by automating defect detection and documentation with precision and speed. This innovative technology reduces manual inspections, enhances accuracy, and delivers real-time data insights for building fabric management. By empowering teams with seamless mobile capture tools, we improve safety, cut costs, and optimise resource allocation. Our solution drives resilience and efficiency, setting new standards for monitoring and maintaining critical built environments.
Robotic Platform for leak detection at Southmead Hospital
Find out more about our collaboration with Innovate UK and the Robotics Innovation Facility at the University of West Bristol to develop an autonomous robotic platform designed to detect leaks within Southmead Hospital’s plantrooms. This innovative solution aims to improve the reliability and efficiency of leak detection by replacing traditional manual inspections with a mobile, sensor‑equipped robot capable of navigating complex plantroom environments and identifying spillages in real time. The project showcases how advanced robotics can enhance maintenance operations, reduce downtime, and support more resilient healthcare infrastructure.
Automated Robotics for Healthcare Plantroom Inspection
In April 2026, Equans UK & Ireland collaborated with Equans France Innovation and Equans Nederland to trial the use of robotics and AI for plantroom condition monitoring. Working alongside Intuitive Robots, the certified Boston Dynamics partner in Europe, the trial focused on the quadruped robot “Spot” equipped with a suite of sensors and integrated with Boston Dynamics’ web-based platform “Orbit.”
