Safety First is a fundamental part of our values and we emphasise this approach throughout our operations. All leaders and operational managers are required to set this example by incorporating safety into decision-making, conducting safety site visits, and empowering our teams to act towards our shared safety goals.
2. Training and On-boarding
Equans ensures that its workforce receives comprehensive onboarding and role-specific safety training, including familiarity with the 12 Golden Health & Safety Rules awareness campaign, enhancing competence and consistency.
Our commitment to continuous safety improvement involves engaging with our teams to contribute to our goal of zero incidents through reinforced safety messaging and initiatives, including mandatory safety stand downs.

A learning culture is an essential condition for success. Facilitated by our dedicated HSQ teams, sharing of successes is encouraged as well as learning from failures within our organisation and the industry.
We uphold a commitment to thorough investigation of serious incidents, implementing lessons learned, and collecting good practices and near misses at every site, while utilising pre-shift safety briefings and SHEQ alerts to disseminate lessons learned at various organisational levels.

At Equans, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders, including employees, contractors, and the public, is a fundamental commitment.
We engage with stakeholders on the job sites we manage through robust subcontractor induction processes, ongoing safety measures such as Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS), pre-start safety briefings, inspections, and audits, whilst also ensuring that temporary work agencies adhere to our health and safety standards. Equans site management oversees the implementation of SHEQ policies in alignment with our customers’ local requirements.

We integrate safety into early work planning stages through robust risk assessments, ensuring safe and efficient methods are inbuilt when activities are planned, managed, and coordinated.
We maintain an absolute focus on major and health risks, and ensure operatives align with the 12 Golden Health & Safety Rules on every site. We also use comprehensive Safe Systems of Work procedures for high-risk operations and appointment procedures for authorisation of works.
Our Management System is certified to the Occupational Health and Safety Standard ISO 45001:2018 as well as ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environment).
