Our Commitments to Net Zero
At Equans UK & Ireland, we take our own actions on climate change seriously but also recognise our role as an enabler for many of our customers in their own journeys to Net Zero.
Our Commitments to Net Zero
We have been actively decarbonising our business for over a decade, and we have reaffirmed our Net Zero focus by committing to set company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the internationally recognised Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) - aligning us to a 1.5-degree rise global warming target.
Our commitment recognises the climate change emergency facing the planet and sets us on a path to reach Net Zero ahead of UK Government requirements.
As part of our decarbonisation plan, we have already switched over 25% of our fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) with a longer-term commitment to deliver zero tailpipe emissions by 2028.
Our Net Zero Targets
- By 2030 we will achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for our scopes 1 and 2 emissions from our offices, fleet and construction sites
- By 2035 we will expand Net Zero to our heat networks
- By 2045 we will achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for scope 3 emissions including travel, grey fleet, waste, water, services we deliver and supply chain
Supporting our Customers on their Net Zero journeys
Our Net Zero pledge complements our vision to ‘connect, power and protect’ - empowering the businesses and communities we serve to not only fully embrace the energy transition, but also the digital and industrial transitions that are redesigning the way we move, work and live.
By combining our specialist activities, we are empowering our public and private sector partners to make the transition to Net Zero, through the decarbonisation of buildings, heat, industry and transport.
A Leader in Sustainability Management
Equans was awarded a Gold EcoVadis rating: an independent endorsement putting Equans in the top one percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis. It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability management and gives confidence to our current and future partners that Equans continues to lead the way in sustainability management and has the expertise and experience to add value to their performance.
Equans is also one of just five companies in the FM sector to have achieved Platinum status in the Sustainable FM Index (SFMI). Run by Acclaro Advisory, the SFMI considers a wide range of criteria across environmental, social and governance areas, in assessing the overall sustainability performance of FM service providers.
