Empowering the life sciences sector with innovative, cutting-edge solutions and service excellence, helping you to advance science, improve healthcare outcomes and enhance global well-being.
The life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors are collaborative and innovative industries at the forefront of addressing global healthcare challenges. As these sectors advance, they face complex regulatory requirements, along with pressure to accelerate time to market, and the need for sustainable and efficient operations. There’s also a clear requirement for the integration of smart technology and robust cyber security. In addition, the global focus on sustainability and the push to achieve net zero are both critical.
With all the above in mind, navigating this complex landscape requires agility, precision, and continual innovation.
At Equans, we provide bespoke solutions to help you tackle these challenges, while allowing you to focus on your main goals. Whether it’s in manufacturing, research, or diagnostics, we’re here to help you unlock new possibilities in your field.
Helping you to navigate industry challenges
We help you to tackle the biggest challenges in the life sciences and pharmaceutical fields, with solutions tailored to your unique needs. Our focus is on enhancing your operations, ensuring compliance and supporting sustainability. We can help you to:
Our capabilities in Life Sciences
We provide an integrated service, covering everything from front-of-house management, to security, cleaning, and catering services. By managing these services together, we are able to streamline operations, improve audit readiness, and also help save on costs.
Specialising in the maintenance of critical spaces such as cleanrooms and laboratories, our building maintenance solutions for essential systems such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, air conditioning, fire protection, environmental controls, lighting, and mechanical services, as well as essential water treatment services essential to keep your labs in top condition.
We ensure continuous adherence to all statutory requirements through our up-to-date compliance processes.
We maintain critical assets to the highest specification, ensuring they meet or exceed a minimum of SFG20 standards.
We have the in-house skills and expertise to implement and embed energy efficiency measures which will help you optimise efficiency, reduce costs, and cut carbon emissions.
Through Bouygues Energies & Services, a subsidiary of Equans, we design and build cGMP compliant laboratories and cleanrooms. Our expertise in design and project management ensures high-quality, forward-thinking state of the art facilities from concept through to final set up and validation.
Our approach
We operate with a clear focus on:

Frequently asked questions
Life sciences organisations face increasing regulatory requirements, pressure to accelerate time‑to‑market, and the need to run highly specialised environments such as labs, cleanrooms, and biosafety facilities efficiently and safely.
Cleanroom performance improves through strict contamination control, air management, routine maintenance, and adherence to containment levels (CL1–CL4). These practices maintain compliance and maximise uptime.
Common approaches include streamlined R&D workflows, facility compliance assurance, integration of digital monitoring technologies, and smoother transitions between research, regulatory stages, and production.
Many organisations adopt energy‑efficient technologies, optimise resource use, reduce waste, and implement sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact while controlling costs.
Digital tools - such as IoT, artificial intelligence, and analytics—improve decision‑making, support predictive maintenance, and enhance facility performance across labs and manufacturing environments.
Key factors include air quality, equipment reliability, containment level protocols, documentation accuracy, and alignment with regulatory standards such as GMP and GxP.
Common needs include cleanroom operations, biosafety containment support, technical maintenance, contamination control, and digital monitoring systems for compliant, efficient environments.
