Placement opportunities
We offer Year in Industry placements across several key areas of our business:
Operational Management
Make an impact at the heart of our operations.
During your 12 month placement, you will be based on one of our busy operational sites - such as hospitals, schools, universities or government buildings - gaining hands on experience in operational delivery, contract management, health & safety, technical processes and client and stakeholder engagement.
You will play an important role in supporting high-profile projects while learning how essential services are delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably across a operational environment.
Finance
Build commercial insight within a large organisation.
Spend your placement within our Finance division, you will support a variety of business functions including Pricing & Modelling, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax and Operational Finance.
Within this structured finance industrial placement you will develop strong commercial awareness while building core financial and analytical skills. This pathway provides valuable insight into how commercial decisions are made and how finance drives performance across both operational contracts and central support teams.
Energy Engineering
Support the transition to net zero and low carbon solutions.
Work within our specialist teams delivering net zero strategies and advancing the UK’s shift towards low carbon solutions.
Throughout your energy engineering placement, you’ll gain experience in a wide range of activities – from supporting the delivery of net zero carbon plans, to contributing to financial and commercial activities across contracts, while working alongside operational, maintenance and engineering teams. You’ll also develop your understanding of health and safety, compliance processes, and effective client and stakeholder engagement.
Your placement will be based at one of our operational sites, working within our Carbon Shift, Connected Cities or our Energy & Carbon Solutions teams, where you’ll work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help drive meaningful environmental impact.
Digital & Data
Drive innovation through technology and insight.
Our Digital & Data teams deliver a wide range of innovative technology led services to clients across the UK. During this digital and data industrial placement, you will gain experience in areas such as research and product development, digital innovation, data and insight analysis, and the creation of customer focused commercial solutions.
Working alongside technical specialists and commercial teams, you will play an active role in shaping and developing the digital tools, products and services we deliver for both new and existing customers.
Support throughout your placement
We’re committed to helping you succeed and grow during your year with us. Throughout your Year in Industry placement, you will receive regular check ins with your manager, access to structured training and development sessions, mentoring support, and opportunities to work alongside industry experts across multiple disciplines. You will also be able to access our employee led networks - including the Young Professionals Network - as well as a range of wellbeing resources when you need them.
With a dedicated manager and mentor to guide you throughout, you will benefit from ongoing feedback and tailored support to help you develop and progress throughout your placement year.
Your placement carries real responsibility, and for those who perform well, it also provides an excellent opportunity to return to Equans through our Graduate Scheme after completing your university degree.
