Overview
Equans supported Clarion Housing and Fenlands District Council in a winning consortium bid for £4.5m – one of only 18 successful funding bids awarded nationwide.
SHDF Demonstrator funding had strict delivery requirements such as a final target for properties on the scheme to achieve a vastly improved thermal performance which was measured as ‘space heating requirement’ (50kWh/m2/year), and the requirement for all the works to be fully compliant with the newly introduced best-practice standards for retrofit, PAS2035.
Our property list consisted of some of the worst performing properties across Clarion’s Fenlands’ stock with respect to energy efficiency – with expensive off-gas heating and very little existing insulation.
Our work
Equans’ in-house Retrofit Technical Solutions Team worked closely with our design and delivery team to ensure designs and installation fully met the client’s and SHDF requirements.
Energy efficiency measures included:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- External wall insulation
- Flat roof insulation
- Solar PV panels
- Switchee smart thermostats
- High performance windows and doors
- Demand-controlled continuous extract fans in wet rooms
- Low carbon heating (Air Source Heat Pumps)
