Overview
Equans has successfully completed the decarbonisation of 40 homes across two mid‑rise residential blocks at Chomlea Manor in Salford, delivering significant carbon savings and improving the energy efficiency of the homes. Located just a stone’s throw from Equans’ North West head office, the project demonstrates Equans’ commitment to supporting local communities on their journey to net zero.
Our work
Working in partnership with housing association Your Housing Group, Equans utilised funding secured through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) to deliver a comprehensive retrofit programme. This included the installation of external wall insulation, new windows and doors, roofline improvements and wider retrofit measures designed to enhance the homes’ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings.
Equans also supported Your Housing Group throughout the SHDF application process, completing detailed retrofit surveys of the homes to help maximise the available funding and ensure the most effective measures were identified and delivered.
Impact
The works at Chomlea Manor will save 66.3 tonnes of CO₂ over the next year, with lifetime savings totalling 1,989 tonnes of CO₂ - equivalent to more than 13.8 million kilometres of driving.
Alongside the environmental benefits, the project has rejuvenated the appearance of both residential blocks, giving the area a renewed sense of pride and longevity while creating warmer, more energy‑efficient homes for residents.
