Equans secures ten-year contract to improve social housing across London Borough of Havering
Equans has secured a significant ten-year contract with the London Borough of Havering to deliver improvement works across the Council’s housing stock of around 11,000 homes.
Under this agreement, Equans will be delivering Lot 3 (Street Scene and Internal Works), encompassing a wide range of enhancements including kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, structural repairs, maintenance, and internal upgrades of street properties.
Improving the energy efficiency and overall quality of homes will also form part of the programme, helping to create warmer, more comfortable homes for residents, support reductions in energy use and bills, and improve living conditions.
The Planned Works contract has been awarded as part of Havering Council’s Strategic Alliance programme, which brings together key delivery partners to provide essential maintenance and capital works across the borough. The Alliance is intended to create a more collaborative approach to delivering services, improving efficiency and performance while achieving better outcomes for residents.
The long-term partnership will support Havering’s focus on providing safe, high-quality homes, while creating an opportunity for Equans and the Council to plan investment collaboratively and respond effectively to the evolving needs of homes and residents. Havering has said its Strategic Alliance is designed to encourage innovation, shared accountability and more effective planning, helping to ensure investment is directed where it will have the greatest impact.
Equans will draw on its extensive experience of delivering energy-efficiency improvements to social housing, including work delivered to PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 standards.
Rob Young, Regional Managing Director at Equans UK & Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to be entering into this long-term partnership with London Borough of Havering and to have the opportunity to deliver improvements to homes across the borough.
“Our priority will be delivering high-quality improvements that make a real difference to residents, whether that means creating warmer and more energy-efficient homes, improving comfort and living conditions, or helping residents to manage their energy use.
“The Strategic Alliance approach also gives us a real opportunity to work collaboratively with the Council and other partners, combining our experience of delivering improvement programmes in occupied homes with a shared focus on quality, value and positive outcomes for residents.”
Councillor Robert Whitton, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at London Borough of Havering, said: "This partnership with Equans marks another important step in delivering our commitment to providing safe, high-quality homes for our residents.
“Through our Strategic Alliance approach, we're bringing together expert partners who share our ambition to improve homes, invest for the long term and deliver better outcomes for communities across Havering.
"Over the next decade, residents will benefit from a programme of improvements that will help create warmer, more energy-efficient and more comfortable homes, while ensuring we continue to invest in maintaining and enhancing our housing stock.
“We look forward to working closely with Equans to deliver lasting improvements that make a real difference to people's daily lives."
Equans has extensive experience delivering large-scale social housing retrofit programmes to PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 standards. Across the last three waves of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund, Equans has supported local authority and housing partners to secure and deliver more than £320 million of retrofit funding and associated works across the country.
