Whitbread: A case study
One of the success stories that exemplifies Equans’ capabilities is our collaboration with Whitbread, owners of the well-known hotel chain Premier Inn. Whitbread recognised the importance of providing convenient and reliable EV charging services for their guests and the general public. The collaboration began in 2021 with the task of installing chargers at 300 hotels over a three-year period. This large-scale engagement involved collaboration with distribution network operators to ensure seamless integration with the grid infrastructure.
The West Yorkshire Combined Authority: A case study
Another impressive project that showcases Equans’ capabilities is our collaboration with West Yorkshire Combined Authority. After securing funding from the Government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), the West Yorkshire Combined Authority appointed Equans to deliver 88 new charge points across West Yorkshire, all using 100% renewable energy. Equans provided free charging at all charging points for the first two years as a further incentive for residents and business users. Equans were able to exceed the original agreement and delivered 98 charge points within budget. The scheme has seen huge successes, with over nine million free miles provided to drivers since the launch in 2019.
Industry leadership
With over 150,000 charge points installed globally and more than 200,000 EV drivers registered to GeniePoint, we lead the industry in experience and scale. Our public rapid-charging network enables efficient charging for fleets on the go. Overall, Equans’ public and private networks have enabled over 500 tonnes of CO2 savings.
