Triple win for Equans at the 2025 PFM Awards
Equans has achieved a remarkable hat-trick of wins at the 2025 PFM Awards, recognising our operational excellence, collaborative partnerships and innovative solutions across three categories – Partners in Corporate, Public Sector, Partners in Security and Apprentice of the Year.
Held on 6 November at The Brewery in London and hosted by comedian Ellie Taylor, the PFM Awards celebrated the facilities management industry’s most impactful partnerships and individuals.
This triple success reflects the exceptional performance and values-driven culture of our teams across the UK, highlighting the power of collaboration, our commitment to sustainable and secure environments, and our focus on creating places where people can thrive.
The award wins included:
Partners in Corporate, Public Sector: Metropolitan Police and SSGL MPSTC Partnership
Our long-standing public-private partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service and Service Support Gravesend Limited (SSGL) was recognised for its outstanding delivery at the Metropolitan Police Specialist Training Centre (MPSTC) in Gravesend. Supporting the training of over 100,000 officers each year, the partnership exemplifies trust, transparency and innovation. Through shared values and collaboration, the team has delivered sector-leading results, including:
- A resilient response to major ground movement, maintaining operations with only one day of lost training
- £250,000 in annual energy savings and 200 tonnes of carbon emissions avoided
- Pioneering sustainability and social value initiatives – from EV infrastructure and beekeeping to biodiversity and educational outreach
This collaboration is a model for excellence in public-sector FM – delivering resilient, sustainable services that directly support policing across London and beyond.
Partners in Security: Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
Equans’ values-led security partnership with QEH in Birmingham earned recognition in the Partners in Security category. Working within one of the UK’s busiest hospitals which is home to one of the nation’s busiest Emergency Departments and the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, our officers deliver safety with care, empathy and professionalism, integrating seamlessly into the Trust’s clinical and safeguarding priorities.
Our team managed over 10,800 incidents last year, with more than 3,200 already handled this year alone, and over 13,000 projected in total by year-end. Our de-escalation-first approach to security has reduced physical interventions from 19.1% in 2023 to 14.9%, in 2025. Smart technology, including body-worn CCTV, lone-worker devices and digital reporting tools, enhances transparency and response times. The team also contributes to the Trust’s sustainability goals through paperless systems and energy-awareness patrols – combining safety, service and environmental responsibility.
Apprentice of the Year: Billy Wilson, Electrical Apprentice
Completing the trio of wins, Billy Wilson, our Electrical Apprentice on our Clifford Chance, contract was named Apprentice of the Year. Since joining Equans in 2023, Billy has demonstrated technical excellence, innovation and leadership, delivering measurable impact through sustainable engineering solutions. His standout achievements include:
- Supporting the delivery of £165,000 in annual energy savings through LED and cooling system upgrades
- Pioneering sustainable engineering through reverse-engineering and 3D printing a failed air system component, eliminating the need for £2,400 unit replacements. This has saved £173,000, annually, with projected savings of over £1 million across the contract term, while also reducing waste and supply chain emissions.
Beyond his technical ability, Billy serves as a SHEQ Ambassador, supporting safety, mentoring, STEM outreach and DE&I initiatives – a true example of the next generation of FM talent making a difference.
