Equans partners with Anchor to deliver energy efficiency improvements to Scarborough homes
Equans has successfully completed energy efficiency upgrades to homes across Scarborough on behalf of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life.
These improvements were made possible thanks to funding secured through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).
The upgrades included work on 61 properties at Hanover Court in Scarborough, where triple-glazed windows and high heat retention storage heaters were installed. These improvements have raised the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of the homes to a ‘C’.
Anchor secured £2.2 million of SHDF funding as part of the Greener Futures Partnership, a collaboration of housing associations working together to tackle the decarbonisation challenge. The funding is being used to improve the energy efficiency of 341 rented properties that are below an Energy Performance Certificate’ rating of C.

Residents at Hanover Court are already noticing significant benefits. Brian Corcoran, who has lived in Hanover Court for five years, said: “I’m over the moon. I can’t believe how fast the work was completed. I’ve felt a huge difference with the new windows, so much warmer and less noise.”
