Equans secures new 10-year contract with Birmingham City Council
Equans has landed a new 10-year contract with Birmingham City Council to provide repairs, maintenance and planned investment work to homes across the city.
As part of the new contract – which has the option to extend for a further five years - Equans will manage around 17,000 homes in the East of Birmingham, providing services to residents including responsive day-to-day repairs, gas installations and servicing, and planned maintenance.
Equans has been a strategic partner of the council since 2015. During that time, the award-winning partnership has created more than 80 apprenticeships for local people and consistently achieved excellent customer satisfaction scores.
In late 2025, Equans and Birmingham Council completed work on a city-wide energy efficient retrofit programme – the largest of its kind in the UK – which saw almost 2,000 of the city’s coldest homes transformed. It’s estimated that the project will help residents save as much as £1,600 on their annual energy bills, whilst carbon emissions have been cut by more than 2,500 tonnes.

The new contract will go live in July 2026, and will run until 2036, with the potential to extend until 2041.
