Equans celebrates double win at the IWFM Impact Awards
Equans has proudly received two prestigious accolades at the recent IWFM Impact Awards, winning in both the Collaboration and People Development and Talent Retention categories.
The ceremony, which took place on 14th October 2024 in London, saw 900 professionals come together to network and celebrate the FM profession’s work, and the outstanding professionals who push the sector forward.
Celebrating collaboration in partnership with Manchester City Council
In the Collaboration category, we were honoured for our strong FM partnership with Manchester City Council. This collaboration is driven by shared goals to support the city’s Community Strategy.
Together, we are not just delivering facilities management services; but also spearheading ambitious decarbonisation efforts aimed at helping Manchester achieve net-zero emissions by 2038.
Our partnership goes beyond FM service delivery; we are making a substantial impact on job creation, social value, and community initiatives. By focusing on collaborative initiatives within the broader contract, we demonstrated the importance of teamwork and a shared vision in fostering a sustainable and thriving future for Manchester. These elements were pivotal in securing this award.
Quote from Richard Carmichael,
Winning the Collaboration category at the IWFM Impact Awards, is a testament to the strength of our partnership with Manchester City Council across our Public Buildings FM contract. This award reflects the shared vision and teamwork that have driven us beyond traditional facilities management, allowing us to tackle ambitious decarbonisation goals, create local jobs, and deliver positive social impact. It highlights how collaboration fosters innovation and sustainable change. We look forward to continuing our journey with the Council and building on this success.
Empowering women through leadership development
We are equally pleased to be recognised in the People Development and Talent Retention category for our pioneering Women in Leadership (WiL) programme.
This initiative demonstrates our commitment to nurturing and retaining female talent, forming a crucial part of our vision to cultivate an inclusive workplace that empowers women, builds confidence, and promotes career advancement.
Developed with our women’s network ‘WOMEN Together’ and learning and development talent team, the Women in Leadership programme adopts a blended learning approach to support personal and professional growth. The programme not only enhances our talent retention but also attracts new talent into the business and the industry. It reflects our commitment to creating a great place to work and a culture that is inclusive of everyone.
Quote from Jessica Hanwell,
We are incredibly proud to be recognised in the People Development and Talent Retention category for our Women in Leadership programme. This accolade underscores our dedication to creating an inclusive workplace where women feel empowered, supported, and confident in advancing their careers. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all those involved in this achievement – it is a true reflection of the strides we are making towards creating a culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Industry recognition
As a proud sponsor of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative award, Richard Carmichael, our Managing Director for the North presented this accolade at the event to the winners, Inclusive Design Initiative from Claremont Group Interiors. DE&I remains high on our agenda as we continuously strive to foster an inclusive culture. We believe that embracing these values not only enriches our organisation but also strengthens the wider industry, helping to build a more equitable future for all.
Our recognition at the IWFM Impact Awards reflects our commitment to building strong partnerships with our clients and creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. As we continue implementing initiatives that promote sustainability and talent development, these awards highlight the positive impact we are making with our clients and local communities.
