Apprenticeships underline Equans’ commitment to supporting young people in the North East & Cumbria
Equans has taken on eight new apprentices in a variety of trade and office roles, as the company looks towards strengthening the future of its workforce.
For the first time in its apprenticeship recruitment process, Equans held an ‘Apprentice Assessment Centre’ event in South Shields, giving dozens of applicants the opportunity to find out more about the business and take part in team building tasks.
Eight successful candidates were selected to join the business at the end of September.
Equans plays a role in supporting and assisting women into the construction industry, and are pleased that three of their successful candidates will benefit from this support. Kelsey Wilson and Chynna Robinson will be getting on-site experience as a Multi-Skilled Operative and Joiner respectively, while Chloe Flowers will be working in the health & safety department as an Apprentice SHEQ Advisor.
A ninth apprentice, Trainee Site Manager, Rose, will be starting in October after impressing the team in Washington with her work ethic and hard work when she was on work experience with them earlier in 2023.
“ Apprentices are an invaluable addition to the business, and more often than not are able to progress their careers within Equans. I’m personally delighted to see eight of our new recruits raring to go and looking forward to starting their career journeys with us. “To have what will soon be four female apprentices joining the team is also a massive positive. As a business, Equans is committed to encouraging more women into the industry and providing as many opportunities as possible for women as we look towards our workforce being gender balanced. ”
Equans will be recruiting for more apprentices starting in the first half of 2024. To find out more about apprenticeships at Equans, visit jobs.equans.com
