In November 2023, the UK Government introduced the Public Charging Regulations to improve consumer experience at public charge points.
The regulations include several key provisions, including Open Data sharing.
What is the Open Data requirement?
From 24th November 2024, Charge point operators, like GeniePoint, must hold all data about their public charging networks and the data must be publicly available in line with the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023.

Reliability
We want to be transparent with our customers: as of today, the Geniepoint network does not yet meet the reliability standard set out in the Public Charge Point Regulations (PCPR) 2023, which requires 99% uptime for rapid charge points.
Throughout 2025, we have worked hard to improve the performance and resilience of the Geniepoint network. This includes:
- Upgrading hardware and software to reduce downtime.
- Enhancing remote monitoring and fault resolution processes.
- Upskilling our support team to respond faster to issues.
While we are not fully compliant today, we are committed to achieving the required standard. In 2026, we will continue investing in reliability improvements and update on our progress.
