Overview
Equans has been providing total facilities management services to the 1,400‑bed Queen Alexandra Hospital (QAH) in Portsmouth since 2019, under a long‑term services contract extending until 2040.
Queen Alexandra Hospital is a major acute healthcare site featuring 27 main operating theatres, a state‑of‑the‑art Pathology Laboratory, and an on‑site Combined Heat & Power (CHP) electricity generation plant. Equans continues to adapt and expand its services in line with the hospital’s evolving requirements, including supporting the delivery and completion of new modular wards and a new multi‑storey car park.
The QAH estate accommodates:
- 8,000 NHS staff on site
- 1,100 Equans staff (including a mixture of of Equans and Retention of Employment (ROEM) staff)
- 700 volunteers
- 200 military personnel
- 174,013 Gross Internal Floor Area (GIFA)
