Our work
Since 2012, Equans has refurbished more than 3,000 empty properties - creating much-needed homes for residents to move into.
Equans works on behalf of Leeds Federated Housing Association on a range of projects including retrofit, repairs and maintenance, and void refurbishment.
By working in close collaboration across Leeds, Kirklees, Wakefield and North Yorkshire we help to keep residents’ homes warm, safe and in good condition.
Equans has partnered with LFHA to decarbonise more than 440 homes in Leeds and Harrogate, completed through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Government scheme.
As part of the project, a mix of terraced houses and bungalows have undergone significant upgrades, including new attic room insulation, as well as some properties benefitting from new windows and doors. New smart heating control technology has been fitted to give residents better control over the temperature in their homes when rooms are not being used.
The upgrades are expected to save over 20,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over the course of their lifetime, with some residents

Impact
Our partnership with LFHA has enabled Equans to leave a lasting legacy in the communities where we work.
Through a range of community-focused initiatives, we have supported more than 800 beneficiaries, demonstrating our commitment to social impact. Over the course of one year alone, Equans has provided over 210 hours of staff volunteering, in addition to 560 weeks worked by trainees and apprentices.
In total, Equans generated over £2.5m in social value for the Leeds community. This includes initiatives such as visiting local colleges to promote careers in construction, working with local charities to gather donations, arranging community clearups for local neighbourhoods, and providing gardening. 16 apprentices work with Equans’ experienced teams, learning new skills to support the future of the construction industry.
