Equans delivers one of the largest electric vehicle charging car park installations in the UK at NatWest office
• 264 EV sockets installed at the site in Edinburgh for NatWest staff and visitors
• The installation is part of a five-year partnership between Equans and NatWest
Equans has delivered one of the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging car park installations in the UK, at NatWest office in Gogarburn Edinburgh, consisting of 264 sockets in total.
The 7.4kW Alfen dual socket chargers are powered by Equans’ GeniePoint platform and are available for use by NatWest colleagues, customers and visitors at Gogarburn. The project will help to encourage and support the transition to EV’s by providing convenient charging facilities.
The installation comes as part of a five-year deal between Equans and NatWest, where Equans has been appointed to support the install of EV charge points in 15% of parking spaces across NatWest buildings by 2025, all of which will be powered by renewable electricity.
Dee Humphries, Director of EV Solutions at Equans UK & Ireland said: “We’re delighted to have installed one of the largest EV car park charging installations in the UK for NatWest. The chargers will provide convenient charging for NatWest colleagues, customers and visitors at Gogarburn, helping to remove barriers to EV adoption and supporting others in the transition to EV.
The installation marks a significant achievement for Equans, as we continue to support one of the UK’s biggest banks with their journey to electric vehicles. It’s fantastic to see NatWest setting an example for others to adopt more sustainable transport measures, and this installation is a testament to their commitment to a greener future.”
Judith Cruickshank, Scotland Chair at the Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “We are proud to wear our climate credentials on our sleeve. Having been a principal Sponsor at last year’s COP26 it is important that we continue challenging ourselves to do more, and that includes looking at the support we can offer at our Gogarburn campus.
“Working in partnership with Equans and our property services team, we developed and delivered the installation which has created one of the largest electric vehicle charging car park in the UK, with 264 charging points available for colleagues, customers and visitors to use, charged at set prices to allow for easy budgeting.
“Realising our ambition for Net Zero requires a systemic shift in energy use, in sustainable thinking and action. With this investment at Gogarburn, we are supporting our colleagues to be able to make those changes as stress-free as possible.”
To date, a total of 325 sockets have been installed by Equans for NatWest. Locations have been strategically selected where the demand is high, and power is readily available. The partnership not only enables NatWest to support their colleagues to make the switch to EV, but also their transition to a fleet of 300 EV’s.
