ISO 50001
ISO 50001 is the internationally recognised standard for Energy Management Systems (EnMS).ISO 50001 gives your business the most robust and effective framework for improving energy efficiency over the long-term. Complying with ISO 50001, will help your business to meet the reporting and auditing requirements for many other energy-efficiency regulations, including ESOS, CCA and Mandatory Carbon Reporting.
ISO 50001 integrates with other standards, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, so if you’re already implementing these, you’re well on the way to achieving ISO 50001.

The level of support we provide will be tailored to the needs of your business. There are many ways to comply with ISO 50001, and the scheme can be adapted to suit any type of business and many different efficiency measures.
We follow a three-step process to prepare your business for accreditation.
1. Gap analysis
We assess your current energy-management processes and identify the actions needed to achieve ISO 50001 standards.
2. Planning and implementation
Our compliance team will work with you to:
- Identify your company’s energy profile, scope and boundaries for the ISO 50001 framework.
- Review and develop your energy policies, and set targets and objectives.
- Identify energy consumption hotspots and energy-saving opportunities.
- Implement the changes required to meet your targets.
- Monitor and measure energy use and evaluate your performance against targets, identifying areas for improvement and underlying causes.
3. Certification
An external accreditor will need to assess your systems and award the certification. We will work closely with your chosen certification company to facilitate the accreditation process.
Ongoing compliance support
Once you have achieved ISO 50001 accreditation, your business will have regular audits each year. Our specialists will support you through this process, helping you to achieve the improvements required and ensuring you have all the necessary data available.
